Western New Yorkers' Holiday Shopping Plans

Western New Yorkers plan to spend less money this holiday season than last year, according to an independent poll paid for and conducted by Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC. The poll, conducted November 2nd – 5th, surveyed 600 Erie and Niagara

Overall, 13% of respondents plan on spending more money than last year, 62.5% plan on spending about the same, and 21.8% plan on spending less. Women plan on spending less than men this season (28.3% -- 15.2%)

The question is, are these good intentions just wishful thinking, or will these plans really hold out in the last-minute rush of the holiday season?

Pataki Leads Governor Race

Republican incumbent, George Pataki, holds a strong early lead over his opponents, according to an independent poll paid for and conducted by Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC. The poll, conducted June 5th-10th, surveyed 357 registered voters

Respondents indicated that if the election were held today, they would vote for Pataki, regardless of whether Andrew Cuomo or H. Carl McCall runs against him on the Democratic ticket. Almost one-half would vote for Pataki over Cuomo (47.7%-19.9%

In a preceding question, democrats who are likely to vote in the Democratic primaries indicated similar support for both Cuomo and McCall, with approximately one-third of these very likely Democratic primary voters in support of each.

Almost one-quarter of voters of all respondents who are very likely to vote in New York’s November Gubernatorial election are not yet sure for whom they will cast their vote.

An overwhelming majority (82.9%) of Erie and Niagara County residents stated they are aware of the Thursday in the Square concerts held during the summer months in downtown Buffalo’s Lafayette Square in an independent poll paid for and conducted by Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC. The poll which was conducted April 1-8 surveyed 608 residents who were at least 18 years of age or older.

Residents of Erie County are more aware of Thursday in the Square concerts than residents of Niagara County. There was no difference in awareness between male and female residents.

The Poll which was conducted July 7 through July 13 surveyed 606 residents who were at least 18 years of age or older.

Residents with less educational experience are more concerned than those with higher levels of educational experience.

Battle for the Best Wings in Town!

Residents of Buffalo, home of the chicken wing, selected the establishment which serves the best wings in an independent poll paid for and conducted by Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC. The poll, surveyed 612 Erie & Niagara County residents who were at least 18 years of age.

Overall, 31.7% of respondents said Anchor Bar serves the best chicken wings in Western New York. Eight percent (9.8%) preferred Duff’s, and 6.5% preferred La Nova. Twenty-nine percent (23.2%) didn’t know who served the best wings, or had no preference.

Over one-third (37.3%) of Western New York plan on attending at least one of the Thursday at the Square concerts held in downtown Buffalo’s Lafayette Square, according to a demographically representative independent poll paid for and conducted by Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC. The poll, conducted April 1- April 8, surveyed 608 Erie & Niagara County residents who were at least 18 years of age or older.

Within Erie County, 44.4% of City of Buffalo residents and 35.4% of suburban residents plan on attending a least one concert. In Niagara County, 33.6% have plans to attend. Men are more likely to attend than are women (41.6%-33.0%), and likeliness to attend decreases with age.

Incumbent Giambra Holds Strong Lead in Poll over Challenger Ward!

Amherst, New York - Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC (GRA) announces incumbent Republican Joel Giambra holds a strong lead over his opponent, Democrat Dan Ward for the Erie County Executive seat (47.4% - 25.2%).

The poll results show Giambra with nearly a 2-to-1 ratio over Ward. The incumbent has drawn strong support from both the city and suburb regions

Almost one-quarter (23.0%) of respondents are not sure whom they would vote for. When asked which candidate they are leaning towards 19.0% said Giambra, 11.2% said Ward, and 66.4% remain unsure.

GRA, a local market research firm, conducted the independent poll, which surveyed 504 registered voters in Erie County who are very likely to vote in the November election. The poll was conducted October 4 – October 7.

Amherst, New York - Goldhaber Research Associates, LLC (GRA) announces former Governor Howard Dean has a commanding lead in Erie County over his opponents for the upcoming Democratic Primary.

GRA, a local market research firm, conducted the independent poll, which surveyed 282 registered Democratic voters in Erie County who are very likely to vote in the Democratic Primary. The poll was conducted December 15 – December 20. At the 95% confidence level, this poll has a margin of error of +/- 5.84%.
